Unemployment

Please excuse me while I rant for a little while about the unemployment benefit system we have here.

How come every one I know is on unemployment?

How come said people aren't even looking for jobs?

I don't bust my ass at work every single day to pay someone else to sit home and play video games, smoke weed, whatever the case may be. I know people that just stopped showing up for work, got fired (NOT laid off) or whatever. I know for a fact as I've seen first hand 2 of my friedns just living off the government and not doing anything to find a new job. Only one of my friends who is on it, truly needs to be. He's a sick guy and can't really work, and he's waiting for disability to go through.

I just get so frustrated. People are using school as an excuse for not working. I worked through college. Sometimes full time, sometimes part time. And when I didn't work at all during school, I didn't expect the government to hand me a check because I chose not to work. I somehow still graduated.

How can we screen this better? I don't think it's right. People should be given the motivation to get out and work, not an easy check.

How things have changed....

So, yeah. My last post was about my grandparents getting old and what not. That Saturday in Omaha, my grandmother was rushed to the hospital, right as the chicken tetrazzini dish was coming out of the oven.

After lots of tests and what not, they found out she was bleeding internally, due to colon cancer. 82 years old, and diagnosed with cancer. Life fucking sucks. So she sees her oncologist this coming Tuesday, where they will figure out their plan of attack via chemo.

In other news, I got the job at WPLJ. Yep, you are reading the blog of a paid promotions assistant. no more working for free for me! Things are going excellent over there. It's a lot of work, it's time consuming, it's pretty much the best job I could ask for right now. The people are great, the job isn't the same thing every day. I get bored easily so this is a good thing. Lots of travel and I love it.

'Tis all for now, blog readers. (are there any?)
